Choir Invisible - the home of REAL MEN and BEAUTIFUL TALENTED WOMEN.
This may well be the choir for you if you love music but haven't yet found a way in because you have no formal training. It may also be the choir of your dreams if you have been singing forever and want to branch out into something seriously funky and uniquely joyful!
Choir Invisible has national and international ambitions, putting lots of energy into making beautiful music. The singers bring the best of themselves to it, to be rewarded with a huge sense of achievement that can quite literally be life-changing.
This is a welcoming and genuinely friendly group. Written music is not used, so you do not have to be able to read music. Everything is taught 'by ear' in the traditional way. Expect to be stretched and challenged - voice training is integral to every session and singers devote time and energy to reach very high standards of performance. In this choir you will be offered the tools to greatly develop your musical skills, and to gain confidence from producing a gloriously warm sound that is far 'greater than the sum of the parts'.
The choir has a waiting list and the New Members' Officer will stay in touch with you. You're important – singers are incredibly valuable and we're honoured to have people wanting to join. Coming to one of the choir's open workshops can be a really good way in, giving you the opportunity to try out the choir's approach to singing from the heart.
Subscriptions
Choir members pay subscriptions by standing order each month. New singers are able to pay in cash per session for a few weeks whilst deciding whether or not to become a member. On joining there is a small, one-off, non-refundable registration fee which provides access to the soundfiles and wordsheets with all the harmony parts for songs in the Invisibles' unique repertoire. These will help you to get the basics of the songs under your belt really quickly. Learning the harmony lines and words by heart is seen as a basic building block and not as an end in itself. With the songs' components in place, rehearsal time is used to make music out of it all. The choir rehearses and performs without sheet music or wordsheets: everything is sung 'by heart'.
